Summer Days

"I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days -
three such days with you I could fill with more
delight than fifty common years could ever contain."
Painting piles of butterflies and I cannot but think of John Keats and Fanny Brawne.

Against All Odds

Nature seems so cruel these days.
Predation, bad weather, pesticides, disease, you name it.
Snakes eating baby birds and eggs, birds eating butterflies and insects.
It seems so vicious at times and somehow these species survive.
Against all odds.

Escape

It's been raining for weeks.
With only a few days of sun, I had to escape.
What better way than with paint?
I think it was Louise Borgeois that said,
"Art is a guaranty of sanity."
Well, perhaps she is right.

Bulbs and Bees

Spring bulbs are blooming and the bees are busy.
I love these warm and sunny spring days.
I'm inspired to draw some botanicals, which is perfect segue
into a new project that I've been dreaming about.
Time to get out my dip pen and ink!
